Chicago Area Reading Association is a professional, non-profit organization dedicated to the creation and improvement of literacy programs in schools and communities in the Chicago area.

CARA brings together elementary, secondary, and post-secondary educators-all dedicated to improving reading ability in thier schools and communities. Most CARA members are also members of The

The International Reading Association, the largest organization of reading educators in the world.
